what mazdas sound the best?

nah crazymikey, the stock exhaust is restrictive and you can barely hear the engine at all. mine has a Cherry Bomb glasspack, but that's it.
I want to either get a big cat, like one from a v8 SUV, for better flow, or get rid of it all together and get a cheater emission test.

the sound of the engine has, in part, to do with the firing order of the cylinders. The stock firing order is 1-3-4-2, so you could switch either 1-4 or 3-2 without needing to get a new crankshaft. of course you'd need a new custom camshaft, and there's no telling whether the sound will be any better.
