Those were usually cut down chevy stepside beds. There was a couple of companies that made the beds and just mounted aftermarket chevy fenders to them. It was a really common mod in the late 70's and early 80's. My buddy rolled a tilt-bed step side Datsun 620 convertible in 96-97, It was totally old school even back then, molded fender flares, 4-tone orange/brown paint and all. wish I could find some pics

yeah I was going to say it looks like a squarebody chevy bed. Definetly does not suit the Mazda imo. Looks plain wrong.

There used to be a first gen s10 around town with a 70s step side bed, but it wasn't cut down, it was kinda tight. Almost looked like a dually.

yeah,but atleast if it had the V8 it would go fast enough that nobody would have to see it.
