Pressure Switch Problem?

On my Train Horn setup I have a pressure switch 165/200

I have one prong on the p/s go to the relay(s) and the other prong goes to a prong on a toggle switch (which has another prong to a +12V source to complete the circuit)

Well everything is great, I flip the switch and the compressors kick on, but they won't shut off....Its like the pressure switch doesn't turn off...I can manually hit the toggle to shut it off, but it should do it by itself...

I have the dual 480C compressors filling the 5 gallon tank...Should only take 6 minutes max...I let it run for 10 minutes on the dot, and the p/s still did not kick off...

Oh and its blowing the inline fuse that comes from the battery to the relay's, which is 60A, when I try an kick them back on manually...Ugh!

So my question is:

Can a pressure switch work for the 165psi On, but not work for the 200psi Off?

I just figure it would fail altogether....

Well, I wouldnt say its working for the 165 on, Cuz if you flip the switch the compressors go on immediately right? I do know I have gone through 2 pressure switches had the problem of not shutting off, Do you have a pressure gauge on the tank? Sometimes if moisture gets in the tank the p/s will poop out on ya! If you have a gauge, see if its actually going passed 200psi, If not you might have a bad check valve on the leader hose or a leak causing it to never reach max psi?

I didn't plumb a gauge into this setup this time. But its the same stuff that came directly off my mini, and wired exactly the same as well! So I figured it should all work fine since it did on the mini earlier that day...

I know that I don't have any leaks, because I ran a leak down test on them and didn't see any bubbles on any of the fittings...

As far as the check valve in the leader hose, they worked 2 hours before I installed them in this setup, so one would think they would still be kosher...

Hmm...

Well, The last switch I had go out on me, Was because of teflon tape. A tiny lil peice somehow got wrapped to low and got into the pressure switch somehow and pushed the contact over and basically made it stay "on" all the time. couldnt get anything small enough in there to remove it so I got a new one, Pull the p/s and check the inside. Worse case try putting it in the freezer for a few hours, any moisture (if any) will dry and freeze off.. just a suggestion. Maybe even blow it out with an air gun?

I may have missed it but are you using on of the Square D ones? I had the same problem, I had tightened the cut off side to much and ruined the spring.

Good call boss!

I'll give the p/s a look-over see what the deal is there...At least I stock A TON of p/s here so if I need a new one, I can toss it in!

No, not using the "Square D" p/s

Thanks for the input though!
