wiring a gas gauge

i want to wire my stock gas gauge to my fuel cell. in the book it says the yellow wire coming out of the gauge cluster gos to the gas tank ,do i just hook the yellow to the positive on the tank ,then a ground wire for the tank , or am i missing something?

there is a wire that is connected to the floater on the sending unit, just connect it to that one, the other is a ground, the only positive should be fuel pump

What sending unit is on your fuel cell?

Either way the stock gauge won't work...The ohm range will not match!
