My brothers got a 1999 Toyo in great shape but it does have a small bit of the frame rust. Hes got an appointment for Friday to see what they will offer him.

I'll let you guys know. And I believe they are also offering like an extra 1k off a new vehicle so for his tacoma + about 5,000 he should be able to get a brand new truck..

One of our friends traded in a Tacoma that he paid 5 grand for and got 16 from the dealer!

Edit: I don't really know, we have all just been talking about this at dinner. Why are they choosing to fix a problem that is at LEAST 8 years passed. This could SO easily be pegged to poor maintenance or something along those lines. Just seems like they are trying to cover something else up. How many shitty cars have you seen fail and owners get screwed? For example broncos rolling over and how many rotted out Hyundai's are on the road? This is so strange, I can't even fathom what made them decide this.... And has anyone actually heard of a big case of rust on these trucks actually causing a big enough problem or enough deaths for them to do this? I may be skeptical but it seems there may be a little more to this to me then just a small rust problem.

I just got my truck inspected today. Its a 2000 and they said its the worst theyve seen. So I should end up getting around 15 grand for. Guess Im in the market for a new truck.

If you call a toyota dealer and ask about the rust warranty they can check your vin number and tell you if its eligible for the program.

So my bros truck is toast. They inspected it and it failed. Its a 99 and in good shape from the look of it lol. Kinda sad considering its got like brand new line x and what not but whatever. The dealer said the offer (which we should get in about 2 weeks) will be more then reasonable and even then my bro can still decide if he wants to take it. My brother has already stripped lots of stuff off it the dealer doesn't care what we take as long as it drives.

Anything I should grab off it?

Oh and one random question, would there be any way to fab something up to make the tacoma AC system work on my truck? I don't really know how they work so I don't know if its possible but if theres a chance I might as well pull it off.

I'll let you guys know how much my bro gets for it.

The dealer told you that you could take whatever parts of it you wanted?

The ac system would work you would just need to fab a bracket to bolt the compressor to the engine and find a place for the rest of the parts of the ac system. Youll also need to get a heater core from a mazda with ac.

Yea well kinda, he said he didn't care as long as it drove. But it is different here in Canada, the only person to see the trucks is the dealership, then they are crushed. I believe in the states they are all sent to more or less one place and looked at by actual Toyota technicians or something... Ours our crushed somewhat locally.
