im about to pick up my showboard from the vinyl place because they made a sticker sheet for it. i was plannin on usin real dark tint to lay on the backside to create a background to the vinyl but i was thinkin about maybe painting it on the backside. is there any way to prep the lexan to get paint to stick to it good? i was thinkin about scuffing it a little bit but i was wondering if anyone has any input. there is a local car show tomorrow so i gotta get it done tonite.

I would not scuff it. The scratches will show through the front.
I used to put stuff behind lexan all the time and just rattlecan the back. I am by no means a professional painter though.

i also heard using acrylic laquer is better than acrylic enamel. what did you use? i may stop by the RC shop and pick up a can of body paint but those cans are so damn small.

if i was gonna scuff it, it wouldve been very lightly.

House of Kolors makes an adhesion promoter. But you can also get a rattlecan of some adhesion promoter. I think Bulldog makes some, SEM makes some, stop by your local paint store & they can help you. Painting anything over lexan that has not been prepped (aside from Auto Air colors) will eventually flake off. I used to paint lexan Remote Control Car bodies.

Peace,

Mike

i ended out getting some RC paint on it. i thought something like an adhesion promoter would show up weird since im painting the backside. after getting it painted, im pretty happy on how it turned out. im going to be really careful with it and its .25" thick so im not too worried now.
