Well, I finally got in contact with the person who will be replacing my clutch, he will be giving me a better price than the local shops and he is basically family so I know I can trust him. He told me to price some kits locally as would he and he would get back to me tonight. I found one at the local auto zone for 110.99 that has a warranty and all the bearing and alignment pieces need for installation. The guy also told me he would help tow it to his house at no cost, so all I need to do is leave my truck with him for a week, and he says we will return it to me aka drive it to my house and park when he is all finished. I am really stoked, because I have owned the truck for about 5 months, and was only able to drive it for 3 before the clutch went completely out.

Also, does any one know if 110.99 is a good price for the kit, it sounded really reasonable, and it is the cheapest place locally.

$111 is reasonable. But if its an AutoZone brand kit it may not last that long. If you plan on selling the truck in a few years go for it. But if not, I would look into a Napa brand kit. They are much nicer.

Alright, will do I am currently on the phone with a local repair shop, trying to get a ball park answer for labor. The guy doing it doesn't quite know what to charge so if anyone has input on that, that would be great. Also I believe the kit autozone quoted me on was an autozone brand kit.

Ok, just got off the phone and they would charge me 591 with tax, resurfacing of flywheel, labor, new clutch plate, pressure plate, and all the bearings. For labor he says that ends up being 80 and hour for labor. Would that seem a reasonable price to quote the guy because he is trying to save me money, so I think it would be counter productive to pay for something I could have done in one day at a shop.

I actually just got a quote myself, it's gonna cost $347.67 for the kit and repair and resurfancing the flywheel at the local transmission shop! and they give me 1yr warrenty for parts and labor, he said its the best clutch kit made!
damn $591 is HIGH to me

It should be about 1.5-2 hours labor, $40 resurfacing, and the cost of a clutch kit.

Well, the guy told me it would be 3.7 hours to complete, and the guy who is doing it looked it up in one of the books he has and it says about 4 hours so I don't know.

Could be different in your state. Here shop rates are between $105-$115 an hour, and they work fast.

Ya that could very well be true.

Most shops go by ALLDATA. It has set labor times on just about anything. Thats where they usually get their estimate for times. I think Autozone has ALLDATA and they can probably tell you how long it should take.
