Im on my lunch break and i had to come home and ask you guys bout this. I asked a guy from work if knew any reputable shops that could mate a toyota driveshaft to a mazda one and he said i was stupid cuz i could jus get ford axel shafts for my mazda axle..... He said the only difference is its 5 lug... I argued with him about that and the front 5 lug conversion options for bout 10 minutes till he got so aggrevated that he walked away cuz i "wasn't listening". So is that true? Can you jus swap ford axles shafts for my mazda shafts?? And he also thought a shop would charge an outragous ammount to mate the two driveshafts together.... which isnt true. this town is too podunk tio even have a shop that would do it, let alone one that i would trust. Help me out guys. tell me why this wouldnt work

The b22k has 27mm axles with a 26 spline count...not quite sure on the b26k, although since the carrier is the same as the rx-7 tII, they may be the same size & spline count which is 31mm shafts with a 30 spline count....

here is a little ditty that I picked up on the 5 lug conversion for the front, supposedly the 86-92 rx's front hubs will directly fit on the trucks spindles, but as far as the brake rotors, & calipers, I don't know if they will work or not...this would be an interesting bit of knowledge to find out if the brakes work, cause I know there are big brake kits for the front of the rx's.....

but to answer your question about the ford axle shafts, if it were the same length, diameter & spline count, I don't see why it wouldn't work unless the bearings were different, which they can be changed out.....

also it isn't that hard to adapt a driveshaft, just make sure you have the flange that is on the pinion of the carrier, and the front part of the mazda shaft that goes into the tranny, any good driveshaft shop will be able to lengthen or shorten it and adapt the ends to work, and balance it too.....

this place told me that they would make me a 1-piece unit for under $300 when I was looking at swappin in a yota axle...

The 86-91 four pot aluminum caliper will not fit on the 86-92 B series spindles the spread between the mounting bolts is larger on the RX-7 calipers. I found out when I was at the junk yard one day. Adapter brakets would probably make it possible, but you'd have to use the RX-7 spindles so you could use the RX-7 rotors.
