There are those DIY on How To Bore Wheels, but imagine if you eff something up? And especially if you don't have the tools/time!
Grinding the tabs is safe/easy, I wouldn't recommend it if there was something sketchy about it....I have been running mine forever and haven't had any problems...And there is no such thing as grinding the tabs too much, unless you just go nuts and grind into the drum?

No problems motor got pulled to go into a bagged truck that had a bat motor. Truck was a rust bucket daily.
word of the wise .... put your stock lugnuts on the lug bolt before you grind and that will help you stay away from bumpn into the lugs with the grinder... its safer to grind the tabs out than to bore the wheels out when grindn the wheels out you are take the strength and rigidness out of the space between the lugnut hole and the center of the wheel good luck and keep us posted......
ya i guess i'll just grind them tomorrow. and what do you mean by this:
are they the lug nuts that are shaped like this \ / ?
Yes! You got it!

my question is. if you grind down the tabs. are you able to use a stock wheel on it safely afterwards??
Do not remove the tabs. Wheels are hub centric for a reason. The guy with the Nissan I did ground the tabs off, and has had his lugs shear off 3 times so far.
With stock lugnuts...yes. The wheel itself has a bevel on each hole for the lug nut to set into. Also by having 6 lugs you have more pressure holding it in place. Remember to torque your wheels to spec as well.
another question. if you were to bore out the center hole on the rims so u dont have to grind the tabs, do you have to do all 4 or just the rears?
All 4 if I am not mistaken
