I just opened a scottrade account and am lookin to drop about 3 bills on some stocks or some index funds. Im thinking maybe about 7 shares of GM because the new Camaro comes out next January and it will probably sell like the new Mustang did and the new ZR1 Vette is like 100,000 and kills euros all day. Or maybe some Busch cause they are said to grow a lot and constantly in value. I also want some MarineMax (HZO) if it will drop to about 12 bucks because it will prob rise to about 20 this sumemr and I can sell it then for some nice profit. Im still thinking though. I mainly want about $300 in 20-40 dollar stocks that are safe and steady rising plus a bunch of MarineMax and a shit load of dollar stocks.

Anybody been thinking about shorting a couple shares of Google? Too risky for me cause I dont have the dough to cover my ass but I think it would turn over a pretty penny for someone w/the balls to short about 10 shares.

I hope there are some people on here to talk about the stock market w/me.

Funny you mention stocks! I work with men that are 40 at the youngest and my co-worker, Bob, is 63 years old and going strong! He is always talking to me about buying some stock in something and opening an IRA account!

I was thinking about it, but then again, I could'nt catch onto the lingo and all, and it becomes more like a hobby. Sittin at the computer or talking to a man you pay to do it for you. Its a sketchy thing for me, and if I knew how to do it, and actually got more interested in it, I may do it.

I'm a pretty mature kid for my age, and especially for being so young it is one helluva thing to get into to lock your future into retirement. Hey, a few dollars cant hurt and all, but I don't really have the money and the nerves to get stressed about it, lol.

ALTHOUGH, if you were willing to help me out, I'd probably get into it.

Look up Sonus Pharmaceuticals. Their supposed to be opening up a plant in Las Vegas and its suppose to bring up their stock value exponentially!

MY advice is, don't invest in something that you may think will have big returns because of the stock market. Think about investing in something like hybrid cars or something that can use the money for research. Cause if they pull through the stock will just freakin BOOOM! lol...

Investing in something "green" will help your risk/return factor alot. Alot of people are turning to it and the demand is going to be great.

Ill deffinetly buy some of Sonus (ticker SNUS). Its at a very low .41 and the 52 wk is 6.25-.34, so if it will go back up to a couple bucks, I will make bank. At close to .50 I might buy around 100 shares.

The stock market sounds intimidating but its really easy to grasp once you learn the terms and shit. Scotttrade.com seems to be the best place to trade becaus ethere is no idle account fee and trades are only $7 each. So see it like this, for whatever stock you want to buy, you have to make at least $14 to not lose since it cost $7 to buy andf $7 to sell. Im looking to buy and sell penny stocks and hold onto some more expensive stocks. Check out morningstar.com
They have lots of good info.

I dont think hybrid cars are a very good investmet alone but if you did want to invest in them then buy some toyota or a battery company that they use or something rather than the hybrid car researching company itself.

If you have any questions or whatvere just throw them up and Ill see if I can answer them, if not then Ill ask my economics professor.

I dabble in "Penny Stocks" they give a wild ride and there isn't much to lose, but a lot to gain!

Yea, I was thinking about Sonus. I saw their chart and the stocks really took a dive. Although, for how cheap they are and me being new, losing $50 for a few stocks and only a chance of gaining 100's is a nice way to start out!

I start getting confused at the start of someone explaining equity, interest and all those other words that mean alot. That and just how the whole process works.

Say they lose their money, and then it goes down the tree and people up higher get their dues from it like the collectors and then us who get screwed on the whole deal...

It does'nt seem complicated, but it is not a second nature to me, which is pretty uncommon for me!

Do a writeup on how to buy and sell stocks!

"...how to sponsor your ride, for the average bscener."

That should be the title of it in the write-up section!

J/K I dunno if that would be a good idea...

i've been thinking about getting into stocks. also my ex girlfriends dad is trying to get me to open an IRA. since i'm still 17, by the time i'm 55 or 60, the IRA will have a shitload of money if i put in a couple grand a year. i think the max is 4 grand a year. but ya, i've been thinking about small stocks. i'm just not sure where to start or who i can talk to.

Toddluck!

Yea, the IRA account is definitely a good account for us to invest in! The cap on the account annually is $2,500.

I'm just sketchy about it cause I kind of compare it to SS and we all know where thats going!

I've got a website on my other computer that basically explains how to buy and sell stock. I'll try and find it when I have time..
