What muffler NOT to buy!
2.5" is too big for a 4 cyl... thats v8 size pipe.
i'll second ya on the oem muffler tho!
sound issues can be attributed to mounting location of the muffer, diameter of the piping & how many bends are in it too...
I'm kinda like speedster, don't want it to sound like a hive of pissed off hornets, but I don't want it to be quieter than a mouses fart either!
thats what i run on my 4cyl aren't dual 2.5's v8 territory?
really with the puny amount of air these motors move anything over 2 inch and your gonna loose low end torque in a bad way..t would say 2" is i optimal
yeah,I found with the 2.5" on my truck with the side pipe,I lost alot of high end torque.
Now,with the 2.5" cherry bomb and side pipe, the truck runs like ass and can barely get up any hill, even at 70mph,it'll drop off about 10mph on any incline.
i just had 2.5'' pipe and a cherrybomb put on and it dont sound bad. pic in my garage
iv got that dynomax with the 1st cat only & 2 1/4 pipe. its kinda loud, not bad but i can hear it planly coming down the road and everything, and inside the house, its pretty deep and all. i like it, and it sounds good once shes cookin 7k. come to think of it, i honestly did grab 7k then hit 2nd, man it almost felt fast....-bf
my cherry bomb glass pack sounded stock when i put it on. then i smashed through the inside of the cat to make it less restrictive and now its a little louder and it sounds good. i need to hollow out my cat completly one of these days...
I too have 2.5" Exhaust on my Mazda and It's fine. Crush bent, so i mean...Im not even sure if you could consider it really 2.5".
But the thing is, I think it's perfect..not really too sure what you mean by too big. The way I see it, I've got a weber...and with that much on the intake side opened up, a small exhaust would kind of act as a cork, would it not?
