I posted a thread about this before, and got lots of info that way. I plan to do this about the time I get my carb swap also. I like the look of those.

looks like it should work slammed.....not sure on the sender though, i know the 86-93 that will work, but the guage will read backwards, not sure what the pre 86 guages ohm out at....where are you planning on mounting it, in the bed floor?

hey just a thought, if you swap the two wires around on your sending unit it would fool the gauge into thinking its the right way. the tanks reads 0-90, and if im correct your truck reads it backwards right? u know the higher the ohm resistance the lower it reads? not sure but it might work like that.

It will work, your gauge won't read accurately but it will work. If you have a mechanical or electronic fuel pump on your stock tank/engine just run that one and you won't have any drivability issues.

One of those wires is hot, one is a ground. Don't switch them.

thats what i was thinking.

my pump is electric and i seen were someone said most electric ones are pushers not pullers so would the plugs on top cause a problem. Now my last question is about the vent line theres only to outlets on that tank and i got 3 lines.

it all depends on the elect pump, it should be mounted close to the cell, preferable not much higher than the cell, the elect pumps can have a hard time overcoming gravity & that does put a little extra strain on them.

how do you have an elect pump? I though ur truck came with a mech pump? I know ours with the mech pumps have 3or4 lines, one supply one return, and one to the carb, and one to the charcoal canister. the pic @ summit shows two fittings on top, one supply, one return (both 8an), and there is supposedly a 8an vent, which is likely in the cap (i'd call summit to make sure)

It would have been nice if kirk would have posted up the link to his thread, there was a lot of good info in it....
