Where do I find 100ft of one???? Lookin on the iternet I don't see anything. Do they even sell them. I just got a 220 welder and I need to run an extension from the basement dryer outlet out the window to the garage. I've heard you can make them but I'd rather buy one if they are out there. Anyone?
Thanks,
E
you don't want to have that long of an extension..... but ive seen them at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware
even for 220v? ill have to go look. I just don't have the 220 in the garage so I figured I could use the dryer hook up for now. What are the cons of using a longer extension. Just curious I don't know too much about electric. Thanks
E
I know the longer the cord the more juice it pulls regardless what volt equipment your running.
You can make your own, but you don't want one thats 100 feet. 20 feet max. Get 220 wired up in the garage.
its true the cable will get hot and you will probably pop breakers all day long

My 220 extension cord is about 25 feet, thats the longest I feel comfortable with.
yo honestly wyh the price of copper a hundred foot cord is gonna run ya atleast 150$ just save your$$$ and hire an electrician
I would definetly have to agree with the hiring of an electrician (I will be doing that hopefully soon) and have an outlet put in. However if you are set on making one... Basically you will need to use the exact wire that would run through a wall and get some flexible conduit and then use a plug at one end and a box at the other. Maintance crew at our manufacturing plant did this for their welders. New products and managment kept making the guys move the weld booths around so they made it somewhat portable. Hope that helps.
