Something that just occured to me would be to enclose the factory weber air cleaner in some ugly box with an opening in it (3-4" diamter?) kinda like the redline kit. The duct it right to the engine side of the radiator. If you are using an electric fan just go outside the fan. If you are using the stock fan / shroud it might take a little additional work but you get the idea. Use the radiator to preheat the air. Might have to put some cardboard in front of the radiator to block some of the additional going thru inorder to keep the radiator temp up (but not to high/hot).

I actually drove my truck all winter this year with no problems on the stock carb. It was a great truck to bomb around in!

Well guys, I'm back from a very interesting week of work. I had an epiphany, and boy, I wish I had better ideas. I would be rich by now!

Before I left Spokane, I was warming my truck up and took a gander at the carb. The throat was once again all iced up! So, I took my windshield de-icer and sprayed 'er down! The same stuff in Heet is in the de-icer! It worked like a magical charm!

I just have had to spray it in there every now and then. The de-icer stays in there pretty good and keeps it from freezing up!

I'm glad I thought of that one! Now I don't have to try and rig something up.

I have to ask, just how cold is it where you are at? Should be getting down to 10 deg above this weekend here, will have to go fire up the dog and see what happens.

I may plan on using the plate, someday. I just wonder how effective it would actually be...

In fact the avg. temp here is in the 20's. It is fairly humid weather. Today, it was extremely foggy, and could'nt see in front of me 50 or so feet at 60 mph. I did'nt encounter any carb icing symptoms, although.

On the days I have, it was cold enough for your fingers to sting but was a clear day, with cloud cover. Can't really say how humid it was. Hey, its snowing though!

In the article in my first post, it will explain what weather this will commonly occur in...
