Mazstang, I love your truck as is, but if you want to do the flat back/ pinstripe/ wood floor thing, you should do it! Don't let anyone tell you different, cause everything has been done before. I saw those ideas in Rodders Journal two years ago on a sweet traditional style hot rod. You must remember that chop tops, suicide doors, primer jobs, channeling( body drops), sectioning, shaving and frenching have been around since the beginning of coach worked cars (early 1920's!). What is important is how YOU like it and the quality of the craftsmanship. Everything else is bullshit.

Although, it does look pretty sick the way it is. Love the old school white stripe tires.

For your project I think the wood bed and cab floor would be very sick!!!! And if you see something like it on another truck, fine. Make yours look better or more unique. Lets face it, for as long as people have been customizing rides, I would be willing to bet what ever you come up with, someone will be able to show you a photo from a few years ago with the same damn mod.

Heres an idea, go with the semi-bloss black primer, but add a little dark red pearl to the semi-gloss clearcoat. Heck, for that matter use 2 different red pearls - one for the overall effect and one for some old school scallops. But remember - suttle. If its an overcast day or dusk - it's just black with stripping.

im the same way maztang. i wanted to do caddy tails so bad and then i went to scrapefest and it seemed like everyone and there brother had them. so i was gonna go with something else. then i seen another pic of one with caddy tails and fell in love with them again. i know that everyone has done them and they are played out but i love the look of them and the way i look at it nobody in my town has them so to everyone else around here they are the new shit.

all these oldschool minis... they're giving me the memories i never had. its like i'm in minitruck history class. my first minitruck experience was in the early 90's, possibly '89, i lived in redding CA and there were a few dudes that lived across the street from us that all had shaved, wild colored, solid camper shelled covered minis. i thought they were the coolest thing ever. i was about 4 or 5 and don't really remember them that well, but i wish i did. i can remember them having buttons under the doors to open them. wonder where they are now?

damn that sucks you were 4 or 5 back then, I graduated high school in 91, my first brush with mini trucks was in 85, had a neighbor that had a bulletside datsun, black with flames, louvered hood and tailgate, he showed it at autorama, I thought it was bad ass, then in 87 he had a x cab mazda brand new with checkerboard paint and drip graphics, he is a painter, still know him to this day and now he has body dropped chopped, sectioned and body dropped 50's chevy that is awesome, early on I was more into hot rods but in 91 I sold my hot rod and never looked back
