on a 8" wide wheel, u need atleast a 6" back spacing, u still might have to trim the lips on the rear quarters

general rule:

For a 7 inch wide wheel you will need at least +32, a 7.5 at least +40 an 8 at least +47 an 8.5 at least +54 etc etc etc.

it's basically all about frontspace.

OK SO ONE OF YOU SAYS BACK SPACING OF 6 INCHES MIN AND THE OTHER SAYS OFFSET IN MILIMETERS THEN REFERS TO FRONT SPACING COULD SOME ONE CLEAR THIS UP FOR ME

rear spacing = backspacing = distance from backside of wheel to hub mounting surface

offset = distance from centerline of wheel to hub mounting surface

when you are looking to tuck your wheels up in the fenders, the measurement you are concerned with is the distance from the hub mounting surface to front of the wheel (frontspace), but nobody sells wheels by this. they will only sell wheels by backspacing (inches) or offset (mm).

that rule i posted above keeps a frontspace of around 2.75".

very nicely put j.b. !

I would like to add one little tid-bit if a wheel has a + offset, the wheel mounting surface is (from the centerline) closer to the front face of the wheel, but if a wheel has a - offset, the wheel mounting surface is (again from the centerline) closer to the back of the wheel.
