Techie! Awesome stuff man! I can't wait to know the fact my truck will someday have the capability of not being a one tire-frier!

81-85 rx7 gsl's had lsd, 9" solid disc brakes, & used lug studs/bolts
84-85 rx7 gsl-se's had lsd, 10" vented disc brakes & used lug nuts
for reference:

i think i may end up getting a whole rear from a gsl-se & swappin it out for mine.

in my search for the rear diff i've been asked if it is for a 12a or 12b motor, does anyone know? also, the correct name for this part is the "carrier" right?

Find one that goes with the 12a engine. Thats what was used in the rx-7. The 12b was used in the rx-2 and rx-3 I believe.

The "Carrier" is the unit that the ring gear bolts to, that houses the spider/pinion gears, that is spun by the main pinion gear. The entire unit would be a differential, or 3rd member.

Thanks Seth, had a hard time finding it though. The only one i did find was an 85 GS. At a glance i thought it wasn't it. The diff was shorter than the GLS so i didn't bother with it. Looks like this upgrade is gonna have to wait.....for a lil while anyway. I got the driveshaft off the 84 Mazda, one piece......cleaned up real nice.

Sweet. If your luck is better than mine, it might be the length you need. Lol. We'll find out. If it is, and the spline is different, it can likely be swapped.
