Why 3rd to 5th at 60Km/h?...Around 60km's better to shift to 4th not 5th, not good for the tranny.

My rationale is as follows... If I'm going to be running at 60 km/h for a long period of time and my RPMs are at 2000 (for the sake of argument), then why not run in 5th gear and drop my RPMs to 1500. I'm still only cruising along at 60 km/h, my RPMs are lower and my gas consumption is lower as well.

Does my logic make any sense or am I doing something than could ultimately damage my tranny??

Thx for your input.

Yes it is easier to use, but far from superior. They both serve their purpose the same in the areas they are used. They are simply different methods of measurement.

On your last comment, what's wrong with being versatile? They already know the system here, why not learn something else to where you can adapt if need be? I don't see anything funny with that. Could you say the same for the Canadian Forces if they were to ever have to work with the US forces?

"Mike, the US dude said we have to walk 150ft north. I have smaller feet so let's use mine." LOL jk

But yes, I do the same thing you are doing. Whenever I maintain a speed above 45mph, I am in 5th. I'll only be in 3rd or 4th when im going below 45, or accelerating. Like you said, it saves gas. It can be a difference of 1-2mpg by fillup day.

yea it's odd though that here in the US, the SI system is dominantly used in elementary schools, middle, and high schools. you'd think they'd use the home system. but it's hard when the chemistry books and such use the SI system

glad you didnt take that as an attack, i didnt mean it that way lol

Just shift around 3000-3500 rpm this is the best range I personally shift at 4000 but if you want to save gas Id go about 3k.

I live in canada and I use a calibrated MPH speedo, most canadians understand and use both metric and standard systems, I should shoot a video next year when I put my truck on the road I got er to go 110MPH @5500 rpm I think. I don't recall the exact rpms. My engine is almost new and not stock! LOL
