New B4300 on the boards
Hey guys,
Before I introduce myself, I just want to say there are some excellent fabricators and bodymen on this board. I'm going another direction from the lowered Mazda, but I really appreciate the craftsmanship of the trucks here. Good work!
My beast is a 1986 B2000 with a 1996 Chevy 4.3 swapped in. Behind that is a T5 manual trans and 4x4 rear with 4.44 gears. The Chevy is controlled by an ECM from a sunbird running modified Corvette software.
Here's some old pics:
Since I took these, I've swapped out the silverado rims for stock 4x4 rubber, added 4x4 front fenders, chrome grille, and rattle-canned the whole thing flat black. Also moved the radio into the dash pocket and put 6.5" speakers in the rear (they bolt in!).
Plans:
Keyless entry
4x4 conversion
power steering
toyota transmission
rx7 3.909 LSD
new radio, only got three channels and no cd
Bodywork!!
great to have ya here! let me know if any questions about the site or need help posting.
- welcome to THE site for all your mazda needs.
Welcome to the BScene - good to have someone on board with a V6 swap in. DID you use a swap kit or did you do all the fab work yourself ?
Thanks for the kind words guys.
I got a set of motor mounts from Ultimate Customs, but the rest I had to fab. A good portion of the work was getting the fuel injection working. When I started, I thought having a motor mount kit would make it SOO much easier. If I had to do it over again I'd try to use the stock trans: conquest 2.6 turbo, mazda v6, Ford v6 etc.
WELCOME TO THE SCENE, VERY NICE 4.3 SWAP, I WAS WANTING TO DO THIS BUT WITH A CARB'D 4.3, BUT DECIDED AGAINST IT AS I DIDN'T
WANT TO GET TOO RADICAL W/ MODIFYING THE TRUCK, MAYBE ON MY
NEXT ONE.
Was the kit from ultimate pretty thurough - worth the 160 bucks ??
Eh, if you can weld, I'd say no. I only have a 110 V Mig and figured the 160 was worth it for the mounts. I wound up modifying them anyway because they didn't fit!
The kit also came with instructions that were geared for a carb'd conversion - didn't help me any.
