Cat converters went out on the Dually

My dually is tagged in Florida. Florida has no emissions or inspections. Options are 1.) eliminate the cats altogether. 2.) replace cats (doubtful). If I eliminate the cats the next decision is to go with O2 simulators or tune it out.

My dually has a Hypertech chip. Anybody gone any of these routes? Thanks all.

I removed the cats on my 2000 and it did not have 02 sensors downstream of the cats so no issues with check engine lights

So this is what the cats looked like upon removal. Ugh...

Mine did the same thing by the looks of it. The honeycomb stuff broke in half and restricted the flow and then melted down and plugged it up so it wouldn't run for crap.

Yeup. Runs much better now, especially at cruising speeds. Off the line it still lags a bit.
