So my 95 chevy dually 454 has a knock. Gonna pull the engine and send it out for a rebuild. Just wondering what upgrades I should do? Or what anyone else has done... Machinest said upgrade to a emmision safe RV cam, bigger valves and some clean up on the heads.

The stock peanut port heads are the biggest bottle neck on these motors. I just picked up a set "worked" 781 large oval port heads for my square.

Yes, if you can't pick up a set of 049's or 781's. The stock compression is also very low, sometimes less than 8:1.

well come to find out I was bored when I got home today and decided to run some combustion cleaner thru the engine too see if it would help. The truck had been sitting for alil over a year.. it cleared up the noise. My tech had said it proably had a sticky valve. Need to pull codes to see whats causing the check engine light still. But my friend has a 454 out of a 96 dually that im goin to pick up and start building at 220k miles i can trust it too tow across the desert
