A/C compressor rebuild

Has anyone had luck with rebuilding a Denso A/C compressor (96 chevy 7.4) seal only (rear seal leaks)?
Or is the best route just getting a re-manufactured or new one? $230 to 450

i say buy a reman one... rebuilding them are a bitch
