Recently started a new project, I found this 1994 Toyota Pickup for less than a grand. Before getting to it, here are some pics of the truck that really started this project.

It is my friends 1991 Toyota Pickup, like many my friend decided to sell it mid body drop. I bought it from him in 2008 I believe because I wanted to finish the project. It has some sentimental value to me since it was the first truck I bagged.

Later I believe in 2009-2010 I finished building a frame table and begun doing a frame off build. I was planning to add a turbo to the 22RE, finish the body drop and redo the entire frame. I ended up taking it completely apart in the process and to be honest, this was around the time I lost interest.

Now it's 2025 and I have been thinking about this project off an on for awhile, harder to find time when you have a family and a house but I figured I would have time eventually. I didn't think that these trucks would be so popular so without checking the market, I actually threw away some parts that I had such as the front suspension and core support. It felt good to get the clutter out of my basement while being frustrated about not having any free time.

Before starting a new project, the most important step is picking a nickname for it right? This name is inspired by it being red, and for what ever reason, it seemed to bring a lot of flies with it. Naturally I had to get a logo made for it.

Before finding Stanky Red, I found a good deal on a full frame and cab. This was perfect because what I was originally planning to do was an "Unbody Drop", by replacing the floors from the stock body drop, and any other related sheet metal that was cut. Also, I think air suspension is cool but I am more interested in having something fun to cruise in with a lot of power. With that said, starting over with a new frame made the most sense to me, especially finding a deal one this one.

It is a good thing I bought that frame, but I'll explain more later. Are you ready? Say hello to Stanky Red! In a few of the pics you can see the flies I was talking about. Oooof is a normal reaction, but I have a lot of spare parts, this should be a fun project!

Remember earlier when I said I threw away some parts? It was definitely dumb of me, I threw away a complete 22RE upper and lower intake assembly with injectors. The good news is, I was able to trade the extra cab I have for some of the parts. I ended up buying new injectors which is probably better in the long run anyway. Here are some before and after of the parts I was able to trade for.
