Viair Compressor Issues

Man, I am Trying to rebuild my viair 380 but i can't seem to get the connecting piston rod off the shaft I have removed the set screw but damn it is still stuck is there a trick to this???

i heard you have to use a pen torch like this... and heat up the rod where it connects to the motor
