My truck went under the knife about 6-7 years ago. It went under the wrong knife, and it was basically disabled and sat in my garage for a long time. I also did not renew the registration and stopped recieving notices from the DMV. The last time I registered it was probably 2002 (no non-op). My truck is about ready to hit the streets and I am wondering how much the DMV is going to stick it to me.
Can someone shed some light on this situation. I also heard my truck might be removed from the system after so long. If so, how much would it cost to re-enter it? Any info would be appreciated, thank you.
i've dealt with this situation a few times. Picked up projects only to find out they had lots of dmv fees with em. Last one i picked up had not been registered since 02 like yours. It had only been 5 years back then. DMV told me if i want to pay it current i can or i could wait for the 7 year mark and it would be dropped from the system. Me being MR. ambition at the time said "I want to drive this thing asap" and so i paid it. $500 in fines then after it was drivable i sold it for $1000 bucks, and had bought the project for $1500 in the first place. You may have already reached the 7 year mark. The only way to tell is to go into the dmv or call.
Okay, I just read my streetsource profile, and appearently I dragged on someone in 2005. So that was probably the last year that it was current. $500 is not to bad, I was hoping it woulnd be around 1K to 1500...do you know how the late fee's work? Is it 100 for being 2 years late and then I have to pay every year's registration?

I have heard people checking on there DMV fees before the 7 years... and because someone checked.. it restarts the 7 years before it falls off but if your sure its been 7+ years then you should be fine..they only charge you up to a certain amount of fees and then it caps off...I beleive
do you guys know if this applys to all states? i cant remember the last time i registered my truck but it was originally in ca but now i live in idaho. had to be atleast 4 years ago.

Im sure every state is different. Should check with your local state DMV.
I bought a truck that hadn't been registered in about 5-6 years I believe (never knew about the 7 year thing) and the guy took off a couple hundred bucks to go towards that. Ended up costing me about $600 to register it with all the fees. (this was back in cali)
