mazda 2.2 block

whats the difference between the short block and the long block? and how can u tell? thanks

a short block is a block with pistons, rods, crank, oil pan, and maybe a few other small things like timing components where a long block has the head included and sometimes has the valve cover(s) and sometimes a flexplate or flywheel.  so short block has no head  while long block has a head lol
