I am looking for a good but reasonably priced rebuild kit for my 89 yota. I know lc engineering and doa but are there any others that I can trust? I found some +60 oversize je( I think it was, dont' remember) pistons and moly rings last night but didn't know about boring it that much. I want it to be strong and I may possibly add a turbo in the near future but if I do that it will only be running around 14psi. I just am not a fan of getting passed by minivans and running a 10 at the strip in the 1/8th. I know it has big wheels and a heavy stereo but damn its slow. I would be happy with being able to go up hills without having to downshift and give it more gass just to keep speed. I would be happy with 200hp on the motor and 250 with the turbo but I also don't want to break the bank doing so as the bellybutton I have right now has broken my bank for the most part from it breaking every time I turn around. So if any of you guys have some suggestions Id appreciate them because I really want my toyota back on the road so I can get rid of this damn s10 and get back in my yota. Oh yea the s10 is what is financing the rebuild from it being sold. $2500 is my bank for this rebuild and that includes EVERYTHING.
only 14psi?? for every 1 psi you get a 7% hp increase... 14 psi is alot. if you just do a stock rebuild you can boost about 6 psi daily with no problems. and you will get about your desired hp. and a stock rebuild kit is like $500- $700 that includes over sized pistons and new valves. just port and polish and turbo... you can do all that for under 2500.. i can get you the parts..
just make sure if you plan to turbo it, you dont set it up with high compression first then put it on. turbo needs 8ish not 10-11 like a nice all motor rebuild. 200 hp with efi is a little tough. what about just a mostly stock 7m non turbo? theyre pushin 200 hp stock. do a mild cam and gasket match the intake and head and you should have more than that. plus a nice cold air and header. thats my plan. ill do a mild cam too. and swap to head studs since 7ms are famous for poppin head gaskets.
