i would go with the thunderbird style. i have it under my truck and i just modified the stock subframe it came with to bolt to my custom frame. i am sure it would have to narrowed for a ranger. i redrilled my own hubs and it was not that difficult, and i have about 150.00 in the whole setup.
Just run an rx7, Theres like 3 or 4 of them here in az on craigs list for like 150 bux complete.
ive actually been thinkin about runnin a tbird irs but i found a few jags at the local junk yard that i was gonna rip it out of then my buddy went and bought em all!!! shitty so im thinkin bout the t bird again
i bought a irs out of a s13 240sx for $50. its 4 lug but i found a set of hubs and disc's off a 90 300zx (same as ranger pattern) that will bolt directly to this irs for $50 each side so ill wind up having $150 in the whole setup. oh yeah and its the same width as the ranger axle so no shortening shafts.
heres mine i just got it all. i still have to get the subframe unbolted from the car but this is basically the heart of it all. 1993 240sx rear and axles with 1990 non turbo 300zx 5 lug hubs, discs, and calipers. $50 for the rear end, $150 for the 5 lug conversion. its 61.5 inches wide hub to hub.
yea we have a mazda 929 that has the 5x4.5 bolt pattern and is a irs ...cant remember if it is a arms or trailing..thought about puting it in the yota...any one ever use one?
do one out of an 80s bmw, they're fairly easy to do, and pretty narrow, i wanna say 56 inches wide but dont hold me to that
is the 929 rwd? i know the 626 and 323 is fwd. 80s bmws are harder to come by than 240sx's and such. most 80s bmws still run haha.
i still wana do a miata irs on something
