265-40-22 = 30.3" w/a 4.17" tall sidewall (about as tall or taller than a Mustang/Camaro OE tire).

As previously said a 265/40 will give u a 30.3 overall, 4.1 tall sidewall, and is about 10.5 wide.
A 305/40 gives u a 31.6 overall, 4.8 sidewall, and is 12 wide.

just wondering if I will have rubbing problems with the 5/8 drop and the 305/40.. I don't want a short side wall tire if I can get away with it..

A 5 inch drop with a 31.6" tall tire will probably have a few rubbing issues. A stock tire (225/75/16) is about 29.3" tall. Roughly 2"s taller. If u already have the drop on the truck just get you a tape measure and check how much clearance you will have for a 32" tire

If I remember correctly the stock size is 235/85r16 not a 225/75

another question concerning 22 inch tires
does anyone make a wide tire like mickey thompson that would fit a 14 inch wide supersingle rim thats machined down to fit 22 tires

In my investigating, I haven't found anything that will fit 'properly'. There are 305mm width 40-series tires but the max recommended rim width for those is 11". The issue becomes sidewall height (the wider they go the shorter the sidewall gets) which doesn't offer enough overall height for a big truck.
