adam i beleive the sensor your talking about is for the rear wheel anti lock (rwal) its part of your abs system. the road speed sensor is at the trans. (vss). on plugging the rwal would turn on your abs light but cause no problem with normal brakeing.

The sensor on top of the rear end is the abs speed sensor. It uses a magnetic pickup that is triggered by a tone ring mounted inside of the tranny. The tone ring inside of the new ram rear ends and the old ones are the same PN... I researched the hell out of this.

Now here is the fun part... What other group of truck enthusiasts gets into axle swaps? The 4x4 guys!

A while back I happened onto some information either between dodgetalk or pirate4x4 discussing swapping out the chrysler 9.25 for other rear ends and what to do about the abs speed sensor.

that brings me to my next tid bit of info.

To run an aftermarket axle you need this to keep everything happy

I've never really understood the reasoning behind people being scared to narrow a chrysler 9.25....I got mine narrowed fairly cheap...I think I paid less than $900 and that was including a gear swap, all new seals and bearings, new studs, sand blasted, etc. Not to mention the new moser axles that have to better than the stock axles that are proner to the end breaking off. Why go through all the headache of changing axles...Just wondering.

i dont consider 900 cheap, im sure you could get a used f150 rear end like there talking about and have everything done for WAY less.

I think it would be really close when it's all said and done...Like I said I had everything rebuilt because the axle came out of a Katrina truck...if the axle isn't a salvage then there's no need for that.
