steering wheel swap

Any of you guys ever try to get an 07-09 suburban steering wheel onto a 92 column?
I'm sure I couldn't possibly be lucky enough for it to bolt right on.
If I can get it on I'm pretty sure I can make the factory cruise buttons for with my aftermarket dakota digital cruise. And very sure I can make the wheel radio controls work with an aftermarket headunit.

GM used the same splines on the column for a loooooong time but I don't know for fact if the newer stuff is the same. I can tell you the ugly-ass 1995-up airbag type wheels use the same splines as the earlier columns, but the depth of the wheel is way different due to the airbag being in there.
