will a 2x2 square tube notch work for the rear of my c-10...these trucks have that curve in the frame and i have a old 8 peice notch thats welded together that came off my old frame from my yota ...would use it but i am lazy and dont want to cut it apart to use it...could it be welded in together

I would use 2x4 on a fullsize. Buy the right materials for the job.

you want to use an 8 piece..but not one that is already together. put each side on seperatly and form it around that curve using large C-clamps...you will need a large piece of flat to make new tops and bottoms. Hope that made sense...basically if you use tubing it will look too " BOXY " on that frame.

Cut corners and your newfound corners will cut you.

I totally agree..the BEST way would be to buy/build a notch designed for the truck.

What seth said 2x4. Yes they do have a curve in them but get it where you want it tack the front or back of the notch to the frame depending on which way you want to work. Then use a pair of vise grips to pull it to the frame and you will have a notch that matches the contour of the truck. Don't hack it up with 2x2 that dangerous for not only yourself but the rest of us as well. Hope this steers u in the right direction

Well think about this...you want to use 2X2 so it will conform and curve with the frame. What do you think it will do when the stress of going over bums and dips while driving with a 200lb plus box bolted to the frame. In my opinion, you should never use square tubing for a frame because it is more likely to "bow" vertically, rather than side to side. That's why you need 2X4 or piece together like the guys said with an 8 piece notch. This is not the point on working on a truck where you want to be lazy!
