Clear coating over sharpie signature

My friend wants to get a piece of his bike signed by a pro racer. Will he have any problem clearing over the signature. Does he need to prep the bike before the signature.

it should be sanded then cleared over. i dont know how the actual ink of the sharpie will affect the clear, but it will eventually fade.

i would suggest having him do it with an actual paint pen, but make sure its not oil based paint.

You will have to fan the clear over it lightly and let it dry some. It doesnt take much to make the sharpy run. But if you set it with the light coats of clear first it will be fine. A real paint pen would be better though like he said.
