I finally decided to put a sign up at my shop. I have this Ford Dealership light up sign layin around and thought it would make a good sign since my logo is oval too. I sanded a little spot and found out that they are painted the same way R/C car bodies are painted, from the inside out. I cant paint like that....at all! Anybody in the Dallas are do it? Also, how do I get all the scratches out after I sand it? Or do I use thinner to take it off? Any Ideas?

try using some sort of chemical to get the paint off... if you can get the paint off, id be happy to hand paint it for you. you can see a lot of my paintbrush and rattle can (grafitti) skills on my myspace page. either way, good luck!

or hit up lost cause. talk about "being able to paint ass backwards" he would be the one to call if your wanting it sprayed.

as for getting the paint off.....i dont think i would try a chemical....who knows if it will eat the plastic or not. I BELIEVE a quick once over with a torch will clear it of the scratches.

That's a nice sign! I wouldn't mind having one of those. What about covering the outside in printed vinyl instead of painting it? You might not be able to light it as well but it would still be the same effect.

On old R/C bodies we used gas to take off old paint, just wipe it out with denatured alcohol to remove the gas residue

Hey Jance I got the sign from a guy out east of dallas. He has all kinds of signs. I'll let you know if I come across another. I'm going to try a few things today to strip it. Any ideas on how much it would cost to have it painted? Lucky I'm gonna check out your stuff as soon as you approve me since your page is private.

Lucky you've done some nice work. What would have to be done to the paint so that the light behind it doesn't fade it too fast?

believe it or not, a ton of that paint is water based. just get all the paint off of it and ill get it painted for you if your interested.
