i think the only way were gona get gas down is if people actually car pool, ride bikes, dont drive when the need to. all people do is drive a lot and complaine even more about gas!

plus another thing on this is that when people try to strike not buying gas. It really only hurts the gas station that day not the oil companies who are the ones really responsible for the high prices. The gas stations have to pay for that fuel before they get it so the oil companies are already paid.

i dunno alot about this stuff.... so i could be wrong.
but like stated earlier... gas is high due to our wastefullness and everyone driving SUVs and etc..
it all boils down to "supply and demand"
we been blessed for not haveing to pay for high prices, hell when i was a kid living in Germany , gas was $6 a litter... and theres still countries today that pays more then that for gas... so we've been kinda spoiled in having cheap gas....
heres few sites to check out on why gas is soo high

and if i understand right , its not the gas companies making the call on what to charge for gas .. its the higher up world Government that says what it needs to be... and it goes back down to supply and demand..
once we start cutting down on how we live and drive , prob wont see much of a drop ... but i do agree how crazy it double in price in short time...
and whats hurting our country is not only the government making so much rules and laws for USA oil companies to go by , if they wanted to make a refinery , it would take 20 years to do , got to get all the permints and etc... so most time they pass or do it in another country ...
other problem is the damn ENVIRMENTALIST (SP?) ... we have oil in alot of states .. but damn tree huggers put a stop to alot of building .... hell , one USA company wanted to drill offshores down here, and the Envirmentalist got it stopped.... so now , 50 miles off shores, a Japan company is gonna start drilling for oil!?!?!
im all about recycling , and saving few animals... but we got to live too... we cant save everything... pretty soon USA is gonna be a country to make fun of. we cant feed our own people , we cant finish a war , we cant build our own things (factory's) all we gonna be is nothing but a retail drop ship country....
so what can we do !?!? i dunno .... i would say maybe go vote, get involved in your community , cut down on wastefull driving and learn to save money instead of blowing it on fast food eating 5 times a day....

oh yeah , i love the post about the illegals , ship them off... make them earn there rights to live here... and tax them ... im getting tired of foreign gas stations opening up left and right , knowing down here , they dont have to pay taxes for there businesses either.....
maybe with a new president and working with congress they can get some changes done.. hahaha..

do a search for oil prices its crazy in '98 the average was $11.91 barrel and now it $ 110.00 a barrell.
compared to gas in 98 at around $1.25/1.45 and gas now at $3.40 per gallon.
if you look at oil prices then gas will go higher. and when it gets to like $5.00 per gallon. we will be wishing we where getting screwed with $3.00 prices.
damn did that make sense. I need sleep.

but here recently i have done some reading on gas prices and from what i have found is we can blame a lot on the fed for dropping interest rates which makes the dollar worthless. So people buy commodities and since gas is traded as a commodity, the price of oil goes up. So maybe after yesterdays last rate cut, the price of oil will go down. I'm still not letting George Bush off the line here though.

Finnally, someone is on the right track. I am not going to bore everyone with the economics of how it actually works, but until the FED starts to raise interest rates, we are not going to see oil (or anything else for that matter) get any cheaper.

There are many people making the right points and others not. Yet we are not paying the cheapest for gas nor are we paying the highest. There are other areas paying double or triple what we are. I have a friend in europe where gas is like 9-10$ a gallon. Imagine paying that, then you could b*tch. Yea over here in hawaii, it is nearly 4$ a gallon. Which aint cheap but it could be worst. Plus oil companines can do whatever they want since they know we need gas. So they can set the price where ever they want. No one is going to stop using gas. So the price is only going to go up, since the oil comapnies want more money. In order for this stupid gas strike to work. You would need everyone to go without gas for 6months to a year if not more. 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, it aint going to work. Bush has nothing to do with Gas, people blame him for everything when half the crap, he has no contorl over. Things could be worst, you always have to remember that. If bush didnt do something about Iraq, we could have seen more and more attacks since they would see the U.S. as weak. There hasnt really been an attack on the U.S. since 9/11 so something must be going right. All people see is the mistake, when you need to look at the others sides before pointing judgment. Think about it, more 9/11's if something didnt happen. B*tching about gas aint going to bring the prices down. Strikes aint going to bring the prices down. Presidents are going to bring the prices down. People need to control there driving habbits, carpool more, take less trips, plan your trips better to use less gas, Go to all the places you need to at one time instead of a different place each day. If we start using less gas, they will see that the demand is not so high anymore. But everyone complains and yet they still go about the same way they did years ago when gas was cheaper. So instead of complaining, start doing something about it. Complaining just makes you look like as big of a jerk as the oil compaines.
