how do i ship a bedcover?

When I got my bed cover, Fedex wanted $200 extra to deliver it to my house, so I just rented a Uhaul for the day (~$25) and picked it up with that. Like you mentioned residential to residential is crazy expensive so just do freight center to freight center.
He is a picture of what mine was packaged in. The packaging acutually wasn't too heavy at all. Find some wood and throw something together.
