did the guage act funny on yours? just curious...mine seems to be fine but someone mentioned that to me ....I kinda blew it off,I'll feel like an ass if that's it-thanks

I have heard that do it too...but everytime Ive seen it be that it did it all the time..not just when it heats up....

I have a 2.8 and mine did the same thing, it was the temp. sensor

Inside the distibutor there is the ignition module and probably a Hall effect pickup under the module, it is often over looked, I had the exact same problem in my 4 cyl S10, I cant remember if the 2.8 has the same thing it has been years since I had a 2.8

i dont rem much about what the gauge its been almost 3 years ago, but it ran like shit it sounds like the temp sensor is your problem....

2.8 engines are slow turds and you have to floor it to get moving. 350 and 2.8 would probly be close in mpg lol.

2.8 in my new s10 and it cost me 150 a week in gas to drive to work i worked it out and a 327 would cost me much more

i had the same prob on my 2.8 v6 it ended up being the starter "YES I SAID THE STARTER!!" i changed the starter in my truck and about 1 month later it started sputtering and acting like i ran out of gas there was a short internally that was back feeding to the ignition and making it sputter
