not really a speaker wire problem, im not an electricion, but I dont think your suppose to use it to wire tail lights NOT ONLY DOES IT LOOK UGLY butt it looks ugly too. use the correct tool for the job. sorry just needed to vent
thats bad if you can see the tail light wires at all for you to know thats what was used

Wire, is wire.... the wire itself is the same thing but usually restricts its use (efectively) because its coating or cover on the wire is not made to withstand the elements very well. (meant to be hidden away and also allows for bending and flexibility)
Speaker wire gets a bad rap because the average size of this type of wire is 18-22 guage.... this is waaaay to thin for your taillights or power wire for your amp. hahah
use an old extension cord...the indoor/outdoor kind
