OK So I am driving down the road the other day when I noticed a New (or Newer) Chevy 3500's - DAMN DO THEY LOOK GOOD But while I was drooling I noticed that the wheels looked larger (maybe some 19.5s OEM Chevy???? Can anyone confirm this for me or were my eyes playing tricks on me????

I tried to do an internet search and came up with nothing.
Can you guys help out.

THANKS

GMT400 3500HD's (a.k.a. REAL HD's) came with 19.5's to support the 15K lb GVWR.

Ya know, before the GMT800's replaced them and they call that 10K or 11K lb GVWR truck "3500HD" with its independent front suspension, 17" tires, etc. Wutever. You want 15K lb GVWR from GM now you gotta buy a 4500. Only way to get a "light truck" body on a medium duty chassis is to buy the F450/F550 or the Dodge 4500. GM fucked up.

Richard So then they were nice shiny GM OEM 19.5 wheels?!?!?!?!?
So I would be able to snag a set of BIGGER wheels that bolt on - cheaper???
but I guess then I would be limited on tires since I'm lowered.

The 3500HD wheel is 10 lug so you wouldn't be able to use it.

You can get 19.5's in direct bolt 8 lug from several applications but everyone calls them "Frito 19.5's" because they commonly are seen on those older Frito Lay delivery vans. I had some on my '98 crew cab...just posted a pic in the Dually Parts section:

The OEM 19.5's are just steel, and heavy as a mofucka - like 50~60 pounds each.

^^^^^ DAMN That heavy????

And why is it that they dont look that big- DAMN!!!

I guess I'll just have to continue saving my pennies.

My truck doesn't look too bad with the Alcoa's - I just wanted to go BIGGER

Don't look that big??? Well they ain't 22's or 24's.

Have Trevor set you up with a set of direct-bolt alloy 19's

So you wanna be a...big balla, shot calla, 19-5 blades, on the Impala

^^^^ LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I would "LOVE" a set of 22s but I don't think I'll be able to pull it off with my current suspension set-up and I dont want to open that can of worms either.

Maybe I'll try to find someone local with a set of 22's that I can bolt-on just for fitment purposes and see if I can get away with it.

Something worth mentioning about 8 lug 19.5's, I don't know if there are any current OEM applications for them. Pretty sure the hub bore changed with the GMT800 (99-up) redesign on the trucks, so the Frito 19.5's probably do not fit those trucks - being that the wheels are hub piloted. You'd have to see what Trevor's got, or go with Rickson's...and Rickson's are kinda pricey.

YEAH but then I run into the problem that there are no LOW Pro tires for 19.5 wheels. And is Trevor part of the Tennessee wheel n tire shop?
