89 b2200 speedo no worky?

Hey guys i bought my b2200 for dirt cheap. One of the things i'm tryen to fix is the speedometer hasn't worked since before i got it. Autozone, oriellys, or advance autoparts don't sell a speedo cable for it. Does it work on like an old exciter system (which i havn't heard of since like the 60's?)? I need to get this thing fixed it's driving me nuts! Any help would be appriciated thanks fellas!

it's mechanical. Did you pull the gauge cluster out, take the truck for a ride and see if the cable was spinning?

its real easy to get to from the bottom, i'd say unscrew it from the tranny and see if the cable is broken. mine kept breaking so i just didnt hook it back up, if anybody can answer that problem for me, that'd be great. it spins faster at one side than the other and the cable binds and eventually breaks after about a mile or two

nobody has em up here either,had to replace mine with a dealer replacement, price wasnt too bad.
