you read the title It doest want to go into drive or any gear the only thing I can see wrong is the bushings on the pivot are wore out. does anyone else know what might cause the shifter not to go into another gear??? thanks for the help

Auto???I have no idea.
If manual, it sounds like you have some messed up synchro's and or bent shift forks in the tranny. I had a 2200 lose 1st and 2nd gear, that is what was wrong.

did you check the cluth slave next to the trany?.

the slave on my 2200 slowly leaked and when it ran low i couldnt get it into any gears, check the fluid level?
