If you put 2 peices of 2x2 1/4" like you have and took 1 peice of 2x3 3/16 like they suggest and put them in a press to see what would bend first. The 2x2 would be stronger.

The weak point is going to be where you tie into the stock frame. Make sure to plate/box it.

well i personally think that a single rail of 2x2 on a mini such as a mazduh or nissan would be sufficient enough to hold the weight of ur truck and any other mini. as long as u make the transition flow well, not just a straight drop it will be just fine. my 93 mazduh has a single rail of 2x2 down each side and it is very srtong no twisting or bowing, also my truck is back halfed with 2x2 as well so what u have is very strong and very safe so go ahead and plate the inside and call it done ...

That is plenty strong enough. I like the idea.

so know i am getting bashed on rps b/c this frame is apparenty going to break and the truck is going to crash into a playground. Kill 110 kids then crash into a daycare and blow 35 babies into pile of tastey salsa. I will grab the tortia chips.

build it, drag it, fuck it

This is the weakest part of your frame.

yes definately weld a piece where the stock frame kicks up then connect that to the inner 2x2 and box it all in
