im in the middle of a 94 reg cab ranger project, and was wondering if you think it would be ok to run double rails of 2x2 with 1" peices of 2x2 connecting the rails in the stock frame and cut the top of the frame off? got one side done but had some critisisim and was wondering others opinions.

looks solid... I like it!
what's the guage on the steel?
even though you welded the 1" chunks to where the angle cuts were made, I would weld up a gusset plate as well as make sure the transition from stock frame to 2x2 is as strong as everything else and box in the open area of the stock frame.
i'd say your fine, but i would rock a couple solid SOLID crossmembers. like over build your tranny member, and do a little bit of strengthening tube work.

THOSE GUYS ON THE RANGER FORUM ARE TOTALY UNDER ESTIMATING THE STRENGTH OF THE 2X2. IT LOOKS LIKE IT SHOULD BE FINE UNLESS YOU DECIDE TO TURN IT INTO A PRERUNNER.. BOX IT OR GUSSET THE SHIT OUT OF IT IF YOU ARE WORRIED.
