question on bags

Hey all, i just bought an 85 chevy crew dually last weekend and i have shopping this week on getting the think put on bags. Is $3500-4000 a reasonable price for a shop to charge for parts and labor. Also $1500 for body drop? And should i go with a 2 or 4 link?- i dont really care about going side to side, and if i run 225/?/16 tires on the front will i be able to keep the ac. Thanks

35-4000 to put it on bags, what does that come with? 4 link installed, bags, valves, compressors? To many variables when you say just to "bag it" for that price.

As far as 2 or 4 link, I would never run a 2 link, but some on here run them, put it this way, they are easier to install, cheaper, and do work but in the long run you will be happier with a 4 link, as far as ride, dependibility, and quality, if done correctly. A 4 link isn't much more $$ than a 2link.

Body drop for 1500, good price but how is the quality of work, is that complete ready to drive or do you still need to relocate everything, seam seal and paint??? Again, too many variables. For a cc dually that is cheap, there is twice as much welding in that truck as mini. I wouldn't do it that cheap, but then again, you get what you pay for, most of the time.

AC, I don't know on that truck.

x2 w/ what they said. I bought my EDC kit, 4-link, bags, valves, switch box, tanks,fittings, air line, and sure there was other things.. from Suicide Doors. I think I had close to 2k just in parts for everything. Yeah, I realize you dont want to spend a fortune....but I'd be more concerned about the quality of their work than their price. Check out some of the other rides they have done and talk to the owners of those rides. And be sure to get EVERYTHING they are going to do in writing. Get a list of parts and labor they are doing. (bodydrop, sheetmetal front fenderwells, rear tubs, raising bed floor, etc...) So that when you pick it up, its what you expect it to be) That was one thing I liked about Jake bagging my truck, I got a receipt w/ the parts on it and what all was being done. Good Luck!!!!!


And on squarebodies, I think you will need to go w/ a Vintage air setup for A/C. At least thats what I would do and set the truck up for 22s. Buy some 225/75/16 before they bag it. They are same diameter as 22s w/ 265/35/22 tires.

Well said, an exact parts list with brand specified parts, they may charge you for belltech spindles for example but you actually get chassis tech junk.

Don't trust anything that isn't in writing. Best friends will screw you over when money is involved.

I have talked to three shops in Ms and for some reason everyone insists on a 2 link for the dually. As long as the sucker hits frame hard and is quality, then im cool with not having a four link. Anyway, i think i am going with Silverstarcustoms.com they have some dope shit and a cool c20 that was featured in a mag. But i am just now getting into this kinda stuff and dont know a whole lot about it. Sold my harley to get the dually and want to make a killer truck. I think i will run bolt on 19s(is there any work required for the rear fenders if i run outer 19s with 16 inners?) as far as the body drop, it will prob. be later that way i can get some wheels first. But dude at silver told me around 1500 for the body if they were doing it while they put it on bags, said they would just cut the bottom of the frame off and z the front. Ill put some pics up of the truck later today thanks-

Silver star has been around for a long time, you looking for some 19's? I have a set I would like to sell. They have new tires on the backs but the fronts need replacing. I can get you pics and a price if you are interested. They are the ones on my truck next to my name. They are brentz wheels in great shape.
