could a guy get by with 1/8 in 4link tabs cuz my frame is only 1/8 thick... like suicide sells them at a 1/4... seems a bit over kill whatya all think
come on... 20 views... and no opinions??? i just wanna know if im thinkin cheap or smart
1/8th is a bit thin. if there was any binding at all, they would twist something fierce. id run at least 3/16th. sd.com has made a name for being overbuilt. but for some ppl in the scene, its required.
its all in how its built, the thinner the materials you use, the more thought needs to be put into the design to keep from breaking....
on a side note, if i were building tabs for front control arms, id use 1/4" due to the side loads experienced by acc, stopping, and hitting gnarly potholes and such.
im plannin on runnin a few gussets and such.. and 3/16 wouldnt be a problem at all..so i think thats the plan... thanks guys.. finnaly a year later ima get goin again...im kindof excited
also, if you have an 1/8" tab, and you end up with undercut on the sides of your weld, maybe a 1/32 on each side, that makes the material only 1/16" thick, which will be its weakest point and most likely tear...
so 3/16 with some gussets and such...prlly better or still bad idea. and need to go bigger???
