So I really need to ask about this. I really want to know about the set-up I have and to make sure is safe.
My leaf spring is a pack of four and the bow is reversed. I know it sounds weird but it really is and I have slam bags on the rear axle to carry the extra weight. If anyone has seen this or known our this set-up please let me know. I will try to get pictures up this weekend for every one to see.

Just to let everyone know this is how I bought the truck so that way I don't get my but kicked on here.

Anything info will be helpful. Thanks.

if the previous owner had the spring pack de-arched(they press the springs in a machine to reduce the bow of the spring pack)it is fine. if they flipped the spring over, it is not good. does the spring hold the rear of the truck up with the bags fully deflated? if they do, they have prob been de-arched. later, brian

That's pretty old school. They used to do it all the time to just flip the leafs over. I don't know if it's safe or not. I don't see why it wouldn't be. Probably rides terrible.

Ya the springs aren't flipped over i know that. It looks like the springs where straighten then add a two inch bow to them. It really rides pretty well. And the springs do hold the truck up no problem but when I put a cooler in the back and have no air in the bags it will slap the frame, but i keep like 30psi in them al the time and when I tow I put 60psi and it holds like a champ. i tow a 20ft steel open race car trailer it loaded weights about 6000-7000lbs. I will de-mount the rears this weekend and take pics and show I can check the brakes on it.

One more question does anyone have a soft brake pedal. Mine goes about 1/3of the way down before any real brake power is applied. I know the brakes work great, I van stop on a dime in Dually world and lock them up no problem.

Thanks for any information given.

You could try and bleed the brake system again. There might be some air in the lines causing your pedal to travel before the brakes work. Also usually when you master cylinder is going bad it will have the same affect. I would try the air in the lines again first though.

usually your pedal feeling comes from your rear drums. excess travel on the pedal can come from worn out or non adjusted rear brakes

Here are some photos that I promised to get for you guys to see. Also the rear brakes are adjusted well and still have some good meat on them and the fronts are maybe a year old. Don't let the bags fool you they are the slam bags and aren't that big. I was thinking of replacing the springs with stock springs and then put a flip kit on it and put bags on top of the axle to the frame. Let me know what you guys think. Let me have it I really need to know what to do but I can't bag it because I have my race car to fund and the season is right around the corner.

thanks guys.

Yeah crazy de-arch on the springs, and the overload leafs were removed. Why does the spring perch look crooked in that second pic? Is it just a pinion angle shim messin with my head, optical delusion?
