well im starting to tub out my nissan frontier up front for 20"s and want to know what kind/type of wire should i buy to use on this welding. i have a decent 110v wire welder that is ran on 75/25 mix gas. i believe that it runs right now a .30 diameter wire. let me know thanks later

I use .23 on most sheetmetal, and bag brackets, frames I use .35

.23 or .30 for sheet metal, and .35 for thicker stuff like frames. .23 would be your best bet IMO.

I use .035 for everything, I just buy good quality wire like Lincoln L50. It makes a difference.

i use .035 on all my stuff
i use a small lincoln 175 mig/gas

i dont use quite as thick of wire as most posted, i only use 3/32 when welding body panels....

but enough jokes, .023 is the best for sheetmetal... hey max, ask your supplier for washington alloy, its super cheap (about 3x less than lincoln wire), and welds fine, dont know if you use enough wire for that to make an impact or not though...... the only time you should really notice a big difference in wire companies is like 220+ amps, and usually when you are using spray arc transfer, the arc stability seems better with lincoln wire..... occasionally (maybe once a month), ive noticed a join in the roll bind up in the feeder, but for the shop i work at the price difference makes up for the slight lack in quality......

thanks guys for the help im going to start this weekend and wanted to get everything ready. so the thicker the wire is the more it penetrates or the stronger it will be??

I would use a .023" ER70S-6 wire for sheetmetal. Anything thicker than 16 gauge would require using a thicker wire such as .035".

another thing guys is when i finish tack welding the tubs to the cab do i go back and fully weld them in or do several beads and seal it up. If so what sealer do i use cuz this truck is daily driven and dont want it to get flooded in.
