If we wanna take the discussion to the logical extreme here, conspiracy theories aside, I'd be concerned that registered guns and people with CCL's are just a list for them to come take your guns away. They know who has them and what they have.

Best to own would be ones from private sales or things bought before all the background checks. Years and years ago...
