I tried the search button but didnt find an answer to the question I am asking. On the rear wheels for my truck, Can I run Townasty style wheels on the outside and regular Alcoas on the inside...? Or do all 4 have to be Townasty wheels on the rear...? (I plan to run 6 Alcoa I think instead of 16s on inside)

If you run 22"s on the inside, you need the regular style wheel. I was going to add them later but sold mine before i got the chance to.

What's up with using 16's on the inside anyway?

Some people are all hollerin' about death, doom and premature tire wear from using 16's on the inside.

Others say there's not enough difference to worry about. WTF.

My research says there's a couple brands of 22's (285/40) with the same overall diameter (31.4", IIRC) as some 215/85-16's.

From my end the added expense of two more 22's w/ tires changes the game from "I can almost afford that" to "I just can't swing it".

I ran 16"s on the inseide of both sets of my 22"s. Never had abnormal wear. Paired 265/35/22 with 225/75/16 and 265/40/22 with 215/85/16. I did have a tire wear issue that was starting with my 19"s, krewzlo can also agree on that. The tire sizes HAVE to pair up, a size differance will cause abnormal wear

yea i ran 16's on the green truck and never had tire wear issues as long as you match the tire size up right.

so is the issue the price of buying 6 22s vs 4 22s and 2 16s? is that what you are talking about?

most people do it for the price because its cheaper to only have to buy 4. on my green truck i did it for cleareance issues.
