GAS MILAGE

JUST WONDERING IF ANYBODY OUT THERE HAS A 3.73 AND IF SO WHAT IS UR GAS MILEAGE I WAS THINKING OF CHANGING MY 4.11 OUT TO SAVE SOME GAS LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW HOW IT MIGHT WORK FOR ME

damn is this that unheard of am I fucking stupid or crazy surely somebody on here has done this or has a friend that has I just wonder if it will help or possible have the opposite effect any impute would be nice

i dont know if anyone has done it but alot of peeps talk bout doing it. it would def help with gas mileage though because it would drop your RPM's. just depends on how much you tow with yours

I plan on doing it but haven't gotten there yet. If you wait like 7 years I'll let you know.

dually trucks weigh in at ~5500-6000 lbs.
On that year truck i dont think you will see any savings vs. cost of new gears. When I bought my 7.4 auto dually, i drove both gears and the 3.73 seemed kind of doggie and had to put your foot into it more.I tow with mine so the 4.11 work fine.I think they have 3.55 gears out there, if you do alot of highway driving.I use msd ignition systems that I think helps in the low rpm range.

I have a 99 CC with a 454. I do tow campers as I work at a camper dealer but not ever day just maybe 1 a month and tow wifes show car to shows the reason I was throughing it out there is to see if it would be worth it as I don't want to have to keep my foot in it and use the same amount of gas then I would have wasted the money I don't have to drive this every day as I have other vehicles just thought if I could do alittle better on mileage I could drive it more as I love this truck and I am getting about 12-14 mpg know alot of people tell me that that is the best I can ever hope for and most don't believe that I am getting that

12 is about average for that truck

your biggest bang for the buck with these trucks is going with the msd 6la spark multiplyer and a good coil and get rid of the fan clutch set up and go with an electric fan also I'M going to get under size pulleys .
before I put my big boar TBI on and I didn't have the electric fans on yet i was getting about 14 but with the clutch fan off it was getting a little better then 16 on the freeway

i went from the 4.10 to a 3.42 gear and picked up almost 2mpg on the highway. im getting around 13.5 with a carb.
